  • Ensure you have completed your internship and the report is approved.
  • Enroll for the process under registration number.

  • Sign up as a practitioner using your ID number, registration number and an active/ valid email
  • Sign in to your portal
  • Click on download license.
  • Print in colour and laminate your license.
  • Make sure you keep the payment confirmation message.
  • Call or visit the PHOTC office with the message and present the message alongside your account details for reconciliations.

  • At the bottom click indexing application
  • Fill in the form as required and click submit.
  • Click on osp.photc.org.
  • Go to online indexing
  • Make the application
  • Upload your documents
  • Submit your application and confirm whether it is successful.
  • Go to the payment section and follow the prompts for making payment.
  • The system will display M-PESA Pay Bill number and the invoice number.
  • Proceed to make the payment as prompted.
  • Find out which subject/subjects do not meet the indexing guidelines
  • Apply for bridging of the affected subjects.
  • If you have previous professional qualification such as certificate or diploma in relevant areas, you will be required to attach for review and further guidance.
  • Index numbers are subject to review and approval
  • If you have cluster issues your index won’t be approved.
  • If you have not attached the required certificates/ documents.
  • Until the exam committee sit down to look at the documents submitted.
  • Your application will be reviewed and the verdict will be delivered within 30 days.
  • To bridge competency gaps that have been identified in the content of your training
  • Processing of indexing application takes fourteen (14) working days.
  • After application, check your index number in the osp.photc.org index checker
  • If you don’t receive your index after 14 days, please contact the indexing administrator through 020 239 8647
  • Professionals who have sat and passed professional Council examination and have practiced for a minimum two (2) years in relevant areas.
  • Internship review takes 14 days to complete and feedback provided.
  • As a procedure, feedback on internship report is provided through an intern’s email address.
  • If you haven’t received any feedback after 14 days, please contact the office for assistance.
  • Review of corrected reports takes ten (10) working days from the day of re-submission.
  • Approval of re-submitted reports depends on whether all the corrected areas have been submitted as per the review report
  • Download the internship transfer form and fill in.
  • Attach a letter of approval from your immediate supervisor.
  • Send the application to the Council for processing.
  • Wait for a period of fourteen (14) days for feedback while continuing with internship in your current centre.
  • The Council recognizes payment of stipends during internship as a priority area. However, payment of stipend depends on approval by the parent Ministry of Health and the National Treasury. The Council is currently engaging relevant institutions to facilitate payment of stipends to all interns.
  • As good practice, the Council recommends that internship programmes should not be discontinued once commenced. However, if internship is discontinued due to any reasons before  completion, the affected intern shall be expected to formally notify PHOTC of the reason for discontinuation and fill in the deferment form for approval. Discontinuation of internship without notification shall lead to cancellation of the entire internship programme.
  • The Council considers internship as part of training which must be completed prior to practice. All interns shall complete internship, get registered and obtain valid practice license before being permitted to practice as Public Health Officers in line with section 28 of the Act.
  • Internship applies to all persons seeking professional registration prior to obtaining a practice license. However, all professionals who are already in practice shall be assessed in the first instance and advised to apply for internship waiver for review as per the existing guidelines.

  • Select the “exam” tab
  • Click and upload all the required documents
  • You will receive the M-Pesa Pay Bill and the invoice number
  • Follow the prompts to make payments
  • Proceed to the payments details and make payment
